Jana Ašenbrennerová

Jana is a Czech photojournalist, anthropologist, and cold-water swimmer currently based in San Francisco.

Her specialties include social documentaries, dedicating her time to international reporting, and pursuing independent projects primarily in Africa and Asia. In collaboration with nonprofit organizations, she documents humanitarian efforts in different parts of the world, which have sometimes led to longer, in-depth indy projects. Her storytelling puts a human face on issues through the portrayal of emotions, intimate moments, and candid interpersonal interactions. Jana has led photography and storytelling workshops for National Geographic Student Expeditions in various parts of the world. An habitué of San Francisco’s Dolphin Club, Jana took the plunge into the IOFF as a Screening Committee member in Fall, 2022.
