World Oceans Day Celebration

  • Sports Basement 610 Old Mason Street San Francisco, CA, 94129 United States (map)

Join us at Sports Basement Presidio San Francisco for an incredible documentary selection from the 2018 International Ocean Film Festival to help us get even more excited for Friday’s celebration of World Oceans Day (June 8), where people across the globe celebrate the significance and impact of the oceans around the planet.

Winner of the 2018 Ocean Adventure Award at this year's film festival, Touched By The Ocean depicts the journey of two Latvians on an ambitious quest to row across the South Atlantic Ocean with no engine, sails or accompanying boat. Neither professional sailors, nor rowers, these ocean enthusiasts began their adventure with a quick Google search, 'how to row an ocean?' and ended up on a vigorous and emotional journey of almost 150 days.

Plus - just added! A special screening of the 2018 IOFF film everyone is talking about: Straws. Learn how you can get your local restaurant to switch to paper straws.
